England to Mozambique in one fell swoop
There are 5,700 miles between London and Maputo (Mozambique's capital) - almost a quarter of the earth's circumference.
It is otherwise an 11 hour plane ride
followed by 8 hours in the car, which makes a fairly long journey, but feels even longer if you are taking your 7 month old baby girl
with you. We are happy to say that all 3 of us made it safely to our destination.
We have finally arrived at our new home on the outskirts of
Maputo.
Maputo was alive and buzzing as we drove in early on sunday evening. It was just as we remembered from our time before Graciana. The old
buses pumping out black smoke, the small stalls of oranges and tomatoes on the road side, little kids running around with kites and dodging
traffic.
It was everything that our England is not - dirty, messy, makeshift and chaotic.
Driving into the Children's Centre, we were greeted by excited children who came running to our car and peered in the window to see Graciana.
They were very happy to see us, all the more so as before we left last time, many of them didn't believe that we would be coming back.
These
boys are used to having people coming into their lives and then suddenly leaving again. That we have returned and brought our new family
sends a message that they are valued and important to us.
