OUR HOME – MOZAMBIQUE

Many children in Mozambique have lost their parents as a result of conflict, disease and natural disasters. A whole generation of children are growing up without the care and love they need.

You’ll find us in ‘Zimpeto’ (near the capital, Maputo) in a centre which gives ongoing care to 300 children who are orphaned, or come from desperate family situations. We work with a dormitory of 30 of these children and all of them are boys!

The centre provides accommodation, food and education for the boys. In addition to this, we run projects for our dormi- tory that seek to offer practical solutions to meet their needs.

However, the Zimpeto Centre is about much more than simply meeting practical needs. Much of our time is spent on the spiritual and emotional care of the boys. We seek to introduce them to a heavenly Father who loves and cares for them. This can be a full time job in itself, with many of the boys not having experienced a loving home.

As well as caring for the dormitory, Jonny manages the centre finances and together we support the leadership in running the centre. Despite the challenges, we as a family are committed to staying at Zimpeto for the foreseeable future, helping to make a difference to the lives of these children.

OUR HEART IS…

…is to be a comfort and strength to children with no family and those who have been neglected or forgotten. Our desire is to support families who need practical help in order to survive. Our passion is that they will come to realise how much their heavenly Father is on their side and willing them to succeed.

WHO WE ARE

Jonny and Becky are from Bath, England and have lived in Mozam- bique since May 2005. Graciana was born in October 2006 and Honor in August 2009. The things they miss most about England are comfy sofas, baths, playing in the park and marmite!
